PVC doesn't require welding, just special glue, and Home Depot would probably cut the pieces to size for you, then you can give it a metallic paint finish. So, it's doable. Just thought I'd give some hope to your inspiration. :) You inspire me! I tend to want to tear apart my cottage-style house and go all funky modern after looking at pics you post! We live in a little old farmhouse, though, so that style wouldn't go so well with our house.
